Setting up email for change does not update email address

I am trying to allow users to change their email addresses, which are designed as their unique username. Despite the fact that the update does not give errors, no changes to the email address for the user in the database occur.

So it turned out that the new email address was saved as: unconfirmed_email, but this did not change any of the functions of the linked account, since the account still had an old email stored as: email.

So I had to do

 user.confirmed_at = nil user.save(:validate => false)

so that the user confirmation email is resent, and so that the login form no longer accepts the old password.

I'm not sure, but I think that in your user model there should be

 accepts_nested_attributes_for :user_account
