Unsigned APK with Android Studio 1.5.1

Where does Android Studio 1.5.1 store the unsigned APK? I checked the location of "app \ build \ output \ apk", but there are only those signed with debug or release and unaligned. Unsigned does not exist at all.

Since it is signed, it MUST exist without an APK sign. Where is it?

The Android Gradle plugin will not expose an unsigned version of your APK if you have a signConfig assigned to your buildType type. At that moment when you take out your Config signature and rebuild (or create a debug version), you will see something like this:

$ ./gradlew clean assembleRelease $ find . -name \*.apk ./app/build/outputs/apk/app-<flavor>-release-unsigned.apk

Creating an unsigned build.apk version

you can create unsigned apk with gradle easily

  • Click on the drop-down menu on the toolbar at the top (usually with the Android icon and the name of your application)

    (If it’s hard to find the “Change Configuration” option, find it using the search box in the upper right of the window)

  • Select Change Configurations
  • Click the plus sign in the upper left corner or press alt + insert
  • Choose Gradle
  • Choose your module as gradle project
  • In Tasks: type assemble
  • Click OK
  • Press play button

After that, you should find your unsigned 'apk' in the ProjectName\app\build\outputs\apk directory
