Codeigntier: unable to download requested file: helpers / phpass_helper.php on Ubuntu 14.04

Question

I am trying to load the Phpass helper in my base controller to hash password. However, on Ubuntu 14.04, it does not seem to load. I tried to search, and some people said that this is possible because Linux is case sensitive, so I changed my file from phpass_helper.php to Phpass_helper.php. and download it using the following code:

$this->load->helper('Phpass_helper'); 

but it still gives me an error: Failed to load the requested file: helpers / phpass_helper.php. Does anyone know why this is not working? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As you can see in the Codeigniter docs:

Unlike most other systems in CodeIgniter, helpers are not written in an object-oriented format. These are simple, procedural functions. each auxiliary function performs one specific task, independent of other functions.

To load the helper, the file name should be like " phpass_helper.php " and inside the controller you load this path

 $this->load->helper('phpass_helper'); 

But in your case with the PasswordHash class, I would suggest you convert it to a library that would be better suited to your application and the correct way to use it too.
