I created an application using Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition in C # that focuses on .Net 4.5 infrastructure.
I initially posted it on my website for several users to check how the .zip file, including all the necessary components, but since the program is still in beta testing and is being developed, it will require a lot of updates, so I switched on ClickOnce to be less annoying for my users. I successfully deployed and even updated the ClickOnce version and saw that it automatically updates itself.
But all my users have encountered a problem after problems with downloading and installing. This happens with both .zip and setup.exe:
Chrome places the file as unusually downloaded, and the user must force download. Following the instructions for developers, Google says there are no issues found in my siteโs files, so I have nothing to ask them to view.
Windows 8 and 10 place the file as unsafe because it is not signed. It seems that I have to pay a commission of $ 180 / year to a third party in order to sign the file so that it is โsafeโ for my users?
Norton and several other antivirus programs display the file as unsafe and even delete it immediately after installing it.
Saying that my users intentionally circumvented all their security settings, they feel wrong, especially because for most of them I am a complete stranger. I donโt see these problems with a lot of other free software that I download myself, but I canโt find anything that gives good instructions on how to make my software โplay wellโ with all this super-protective security software .. .
Could you point me in the right direction?
