Open LDAP vs apacheDS

I am working on a scalable web application. I plan to use LDAP for the purpose of login authentication. I am new to LDAP when searching on it. I found two important implementations. 1 Open LDAP and 2.Apache DS I'm looking for a performance comparison between the two, but I found very confusing test results from different people. Some testimonial is relatively the same, and few say openLDAP has more performance than Apache DS.

There are 4 open source versions of LDAP directory servers: - OpenLDAP - Apache directory server - OpenDJ - Red Hat directory server

Since there is no standard for the LDAP test, you will always find results that favor the preferred server of the one who runs it. Regardless of the fact that the indicators are so tied to the scale of the data stored on the server and to the basic equipment that you should not choose a product based unambiguously on the results of past tests.

Go to the four projects, look at the product features, get them and install, run the same tests for your data and download.

OpenDJ, for example, has tools for generating sample data (very large sets) and runs performance testing for authentication, search, modifications, creation and deletion (authrate, searchrate, modrate, addrate ...).

OpenLDAP and ApacheDS are great solutions that work on many platforms.

OpenLDAP is much more scalable and lightweight, but keep in mind that there are not many tools for managing LDAP servers. OpenLDAP must be configured through the command line using LDIF. This is a recurring job that you almost certainly should have for a domain administrator.

ApacheDS has a client solution, and their configuration is split into XML files. ApacheDS is built in Java, and you can expect garbage collection to be there.

Both levels of ApacheDS are suitable for scaling and their data. In fact, in both cases this is a more manual way of clustering. You are a cluster for availability or a cluster for performance.

The previous defendant mentioned OpenDJ, which, incidentally, is not free for use in commercial settings. Their license requires that you purchase a license from them for commercial use.
