Visual Studio 2015 will not target Windows 10

My installation of Visual Studio 2015 will not target any version of the Windows 10 SDK, even though the Windows 10 SDK version 10.0.10586 (and update 2) is installed.

When I open a solution that has Windows 10 as the target and tries to build it, they tell me that I do not have an installed version of the SDK.

Build error

Checking the version of the target platform, I see that there is no choice to select any versions of 10. *.

Visual Studio Options

However, looking at the VS installation, I see that the Windows 10 SDK version 10.0.10586 is marked as installed.

VS install options

The Windows 10 SDK version 10.0.10586 should allow me to target as well as 10.0.10240, but I can’t target / build against.

I tried:

  • Removing and reinstalling VS2015 with the selected SDK (time-consuming, but unchanged),
  • restoration of the VS2015 installation (time-consuming, but unchanged),
  • removal of 10.0.10586 and installation of 10.0.10240 separately and simultaneously (always an error installing 15605 on 10.0.10240),
  • Installing standalone SDK versions (always an error installed on 10.0.10586).

I had a similar problem. I went to the control panel and uninstalled 10.0.10586, then went to https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/sdk-archive and downloaded the 10.0.10586 SDK and installed it again. After that he worked.
