DotNet Core Installation Error

When installing DotNet Core on my Windows 10 laptop (DotNetCore.1.0.0.RC2-VS2015Tools.Preview1), the installation of the runtime package failed.

I found some error data in the setup log file:

Another solution:

  • go to the folder where you downloaded the installer
  • open the command line Shift + right click -> Open command window here
  • Type dotnetcore.1.0.0-vs2015tools.preview2 SKIP_VSU_CHECK=1 and press enter

This should skip the VS update check and start the installation as usual.

I was able to fix this problem with

  • Disabling Antivirus
  • cleaning the %temp% folder
  • restart DotNet Core (DotNetCore.1.0.0.RC2-VS2015Tools.Preview1) in recovery mode

After applying the other answers here, the installation still fails for me. Periodically during installation, a pop-up dialog box appears with the message "Account already exists." I looked through the list of "Programs and Features" and saw 3 different entries to preview VS2015Tools. I right-clicked Uninstall'ed each of them (which deleted each one almost immediately) and tried to install again. This time it ended without errors.
