Robomongo cannot connect: missing expected field

Question

I tried connecting to MongoDB in AWS using Robomongo. When I connect, I got this error:

Cannot connect to the MongoDB at xxxx:27017 Error: Missing expected field "mechanism" 

Does anyone know how to solve this error? I am already opening port 27017 at 0.0.0.0 .

In Robomongo, changing connection settings - authentication - authentication mechanism from SCRAM-SHA-1 to MONGODB-CR.
