.NET Core SDK Installer failed to install on Windows 2012 R2 Standard

Question

I am setting up my build server for CI using Jenkins. I am trying to install the .NET Core SDK from https://www.microsoft.com/net/download however I tried to download DotNetCore.1.0.1-SDK.1.0.0.Preview2-003131-x64.exe to get an unspecified error

Note: I have already installed .Net 4.6.2 on the build server, because I have several other projects that target 4.6.2 and 4.5.2. Also note that I do not have VS 2015 installed on the build server, however I have VS 2013 installed on the build server.
I am not sure that I also need to install VS 2015 before I install the .Net core SDK

Based on google search error 0x80072f76 error is connected to the Internet, however, the connection works on the server, this is how I downloaded the installer in the first place.

Update 2 So I fixed the 0x80072f76 problem by allowing IE to download the file. But now I get another error 0x80070490 element not found with the following log. (note that I only included the log from the error line)

Solution 1: Manual installation of VC_redist.x64.exe

• Download and install Visual C ++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 this link .
• Reinstall .NET Core SDK

Solution 2. Disable IE ESC Temporarily:

This solution worked for me as well. Here's how to disable IE advanced security settings:

• Open Server Manager.
• Click "Local Server" on the left.
• On the right side of the server manager, if you see that the advanced security setting IE is "On", click "On".
• When new windows appear, disable IE ESC for both administrator and users.
• Reinstall the .NET Core SDK.
• Turn on IE ESC after installation.

This, of course, is not a problem with the installer as such, but with IE configuration settings.

I would suggest you enable file upload in Internet Explorer.

a. Open Internet Explorer.

b. Click Tools, and then Options.

from. Go to the security tab.

e. Select an Internet zone.

e. Click the "User Level" button, and then scroll down to "Download."

f. Be sure to enable file download.

d. Click Apply and Ok

h. Restart Internet Explorer and see if this helps.

Performing the above steps should solve the problem. You can verify by opening IE and trying to download any file and confirming that it can do it.

Even I got the same error when installing the 32-bit .netcore SDK I just installed the redistributable Visual C ++ packages from https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/confirmation.aspx?id=48145 and restarted my a car.

and the problem was resolved. !!
