How Opera Copy Chrome Cookies

I installed Opera on my computer to run some web development tests. Before installation, we are asked if we want to copy some cookies, history, passwords, etc. From the default browser (which is Chrome on my machine).

I did not change anything and after installing Opera was launched. I was scared, amazed, and a lot of emotions filled me when I saw that the system I was developing was included in my account. So I decided to see if other sites had the same behavior.

To my surprise, Facebook, Gmail, Github, all sites were with my registered user.

Isn't that a huge security flaw?

How does Opera copy it? Since the copy itself should not register users.

By the way, what is the advantage of copying cookies? I just see it as a security failure.

If you install the software on your computer, the installer / installer may read other files installed on your computer. Chrome stores history, cookies, etc. Like files on your computer.

Please note that mobile operating systems such as Android behave differently.

Isn't that a big security flaw?

Not. It just means that the software that you have allowed to run on your behalf can read files that you own. If you do not want him to read files, do not install it or install it as another user.

What is the advantage of copying cookies?

It allows you to save your Facebook usernames or speak your preferred language or other settings on websites.

Since the copy itself should not contain user entries

Authentication cookies must be session cookies, i.e. not stored on disk. Most likely you copied your Remember Me cookies to Opera, and he used this to log in.
