What is the difference between application indexing and deep linking?

I read about App Indexin g and Deep Linking for Android apps.

As far as I can find, both of them are the same, and deep binding is much simpler, since you just need to add an intent filter to the Manifest.xml file .

  • So why do I need to use application indexing?

  • What sets it apart from deep binding?
