Apache SSL Proxy

I am trying to configure an Apache proxy that terminates an SSL connection. The reason I'm trying to do this is to run Apache filters (in particular mod_pagespeed ) in the returned code. Before I deal with mod_pagespeed, I test this POC trying to insert a header in the response (which will prove that I can edit the response), but I have problems with SSL proxying (a proxy server works fine without SSL).

Please note that I am not interested in any certificate errors or the like - this is purely for internal testing.

I have a server configured and look at the X-MSCProxy header on the non-SSL page:
