Saving variable state in Colaboratory

When I run Python Script in the Colaboratory , it runs the entire previous cell of code.

Is there a way that you can save the previous state / state of a cell, and I can immediately launch the next cell after returning to notepad.

This is not true. As @Bob in this according to a recent spate of: "VM runtimes after a period of inactivity, so you want to structure their laptops to install custom dependencies, if necessary."
