I am trying to call an https request in the phonegap iphone application using the jquery getJSON () method, although it works fine in a regular safari, it gives an error in a mobile safari, for example Download Failed-Safari cannot load this file

If I read this correctly, I do not think it is related to JSON. I would suggest looking at the URL for the https request.
