Recently, a friend and I talked about securing stored procedure code in a SQL server database.
From remote memory, I’m pretty sure that “encrypted” will break incredibly easily in all versions of SQL Server, however, he said that it has improved significantly in SQL 2005. As a result, I seriously did not consider this as a security option on any systems over which I ever worked.
So, in which scenario can you use "encryption" and when should it be avoided at all costs?
