In Eclipse, why does Build Automatically become mysteriously disabled?

I am running Eclipse Europa (3.3). I leave "Build Automatically" in the Project menu always. For some time, my code does not compile, and I solve it, and then I pull out the Project ... lo menu and now, it is no longer installed. What gives? Is this a mistake, or is there something else I'm doing that can cause this?

Edit: I run a typical installation of a Java developer, as well as Subversive and its Jetty Launcher connectors, and I don't believe in any other plugins. Other people in my workplace had the same problem.

Edit: I still encounter this problem once in the blue moon, only now I am using Eclipse Galileo (3.5) for Windows. I did not have this problem in Galileo for OS X, neither in Cocoa, nor in Carbon, but I have not used this for a long time.

I don’t have an eclipse right here to check and make sure, but here is the idea.

Is any project or even workspace file in svn? if any, and they were loaded with auto-assembly disabled, which could explain this.
