Switch to a permanent table

Question

At work, I have a standard table (4 legs, a flat surface, you get a picture). Some time ago I was thinking about switching to a permanent table. What would be the best way to do this on a limited budget? Are there any good laptop / keyboard stands that I can place on my existing desk? Which ones are better?

I try to avoid requesting a whole new table and simplify it as much as possible.
