What is the best way to collect usage data for your application?

My company produces a small software product for which I recently worked on development. This is a C # Windows Forms application.

One of the things I noticed is that most of the information about how the software is used is filtered through my boss, and I feel that some messages lack important information.

I understand that I will have to work on management problems with this situation, however, in order to give a different idea of the problem, I considered a technological solution. Perhaps something similar to the Microsoft Quality Improvement Program.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience or tips for monitoring and reporting user behavior in their applications?

I would advise you to attach your application to record "usage information" somewhere, and then, with the permission of users, transmit it electronically so often.

Pay attention to the emphasis above. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may receive serious problems transferring any data from another computer without permission.

You are more likely to get permission if:

1 / You install, install or update that your program will collect information and transmit it only with permission.
