Starling installation on Windows

I am trying to install a starling pearl on my windows computer. But, when I try to install it, I get this error:

Building native extensions.  This could take a while...  
ERROR:  Error installing starling:  
        ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

What do I need to set for the header windows.h?

Now that everything is installed, is it possible to make it work under windows? I get a fork () function not implemented on this computer because there is no fork () process on Windows.
