Storing Crystal Reports reports in XML files?

I spoke with someone recently who mentioned that you can store reports created using Crystal Reports as XML files.

When searching on Google, I can’t find anything, assuming this is so (using the data i> stored in the XML in the report, yes, but actually saving the report, the part stored by default as a .rpt, no file.

Do I correctly assume that there was some misunderstanding between us, and in fact this cannot be done?

Unable to save report template in XMLformat format. XML is supported as an export format for the "display" report only.
Why do you need a report template in XML format. There is a Java reporting solution called Crystal-Clear that can read the Crytsal Reports report template and save it as an XML report template. Conversely, this does not work. After creating the XML file, you cannot open the report again using Crystal Reports. But you can work with the report using Crystal-Clear , which also comes with a GUI designer.
