Image capture in c #

I am working on a home project that involves comparing images with an image database (using the quadrant - or so - histogram) approach. I wanted to know what my options are for webcams or other image capture devices that:

  • It’s easy to work with the Windows SDK (in particular, DirectShow , which I plan to use with C #)
  • There are drivers for both 64-bit and 32-bit Windows Vista (and Server 2008)

I ask first, so that I can avoid the mistakes that other people with webcams might experience, and to see if there are other image capture devices (or C # APIs available) that I should look at. I suspect that any old webcam will do, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

If you only need images, many webcams support TWAIN - you can use with .NET using this code

I am doing something very similar with webcams and found that Logitech and Microsoft webcams work fine with DirectShow.
