What makes you visit local user groups?

So, I'm in Des Moines, Iowa, and we have a large number of user groups in our area, given our size. Ruby, .Net, Java, Agile, * nix, etc. Well, today, many of us “leaders” of these user groups come together for a couple of drinks and talked about how we can work together to help make DeMo (I still see it on Twitter). Group group change is better.

We came up with some pretty good ideas, but I'm curious. What makes you visit local user groups? Dig deep here guys. Maybe it's free pizza or giveaway. But I'm more interested in learning about things aside from freebies.

I know about three different types of events here for local user groups, where each of them has its own pull:

1) Presentations / conversations - where someone comes and talks for an hour or two on the subject in order to introduce or promote knowledge of technology. So, the introduction of Injection Dependency or Windows Workflow are some examples. There are also so-called "deep dives" in which the idea is to fully immerse yourself in this topic and see various tips and tricks and try to improve the way we all develop software well. There are times when Microsoft rents a movie theater screen during the day, and there will be another example of four presentations about their latest technologies. This may also include things like the Agile Project Leadership Network.
