How do I know if my page is set as the user's home page?

Is it possible to determine when my page was set up as the user's home page in my browser?

I like something about javascript the most, but I would also be happy to learn about other approaches.

Change . I'm not looking for anything mean. I am wondering if there is something that is explicitly allowed through browsers to find out this information.

Mozilla / Firefox has a window.home()method that loads the user's home page. This method can be used (in an iframe, possibly) in combination with the server access protocol to find out if the site’s home page is loaded immediately by the current user.

However, other browsers do not seem to support this javascript method.

There is probably no reliable method as this is an invasion of user privacy.

One thing that comes to mind is a check for the referrer. If a user came to your page without a link, they: a) typed the url, b) followed the bookmark, or c) set your page as their home page. But this is the best I can do.

A simple solution, you do not have to check whether you or someone else’s site is set as the user's home page. If they want them to be their homepage, they will do it.

However, if you have Javascript that will check their email and see if the links to your site have been sent to friends or colleagues, I would be very interested in this feature; -)
