ActionScript 3 outside of Flash / Flex

I just finished a Flash project, where I completed the entire project in a “clean” AS3 without using the Flex framework. I have found very little written about this on the Internet, so I'm not sure if this is the usual way to develop RIA, or if I jumped off the shoulders of the giants and did something stupid that would bite me later.

It seemed like a good idea at that time (famous last words!), But hoped to hear from someone who could confirm.

Thanks Marcus

This is definitely good. For example, I heard that the Releu.com platform is not based on Flex, but on its own structure.

Thanks everyone! I was very pleased with AS3 and, like the amount of control that I get, as opposed to using MXML / Flex. Nice to hear that I'm not crazy!
