Spring Integration as an Integrated Alternative to Standalone ESB

Does anyone have any experience with Spring Integration Project as an embedded ESB?

I am very interesting in such cases:

  • Scheduled reading of files from a directory
  • Retrieving Data from a JDBC Data Source
  • Modularity and the ability to start / stop / re-deploy the module on the fly (for example, one module can scan a directory on a schedule, another request a call from a jdbc data source, etc.).
  • retry / retry policy

UPDATE:

I found answers to all my questions, except "Retrieving data from a JDBC data source." Is it technically possible?

Remember: “ESB” is just a marketing term for selling more expensive software, it is not a magic bullet. You need to consider the specific tasks that your software needs to complete and select accordingly. If Spring Integration seems to fit the bill, I wouldn't get too worried if it doesn't look very much like a more expensive server setup.

Spring JDBC integration adapters are available in version 2.0, and we just released GA last week. Here is the relevant section from the reference guide: http://static.springsource.org/spring-integration/docs/latest-ga/reference/htmlsingle/#jdbc
