Given the iPhone 25k limitation for file caching , I wonder if there is interest in the iPhone-optimized javascript library that makes caching a top-level target. Since it would be an iPhone, only he could get rid of most cross-browser creeps and rely on special features of the safari, hoping to reduce some girths and stay with 25,000.
John Resig discusses this briefly , although it is generally rejected, it seems. He mentions:
If you are especially enthusiastic about breaking jQuery into small pieces you can grab the parts from SVN and create a custom copy.
Has anyone tried this?
Dojo implements version 6k, which seems to rely on delayed downloads. I'm mostly a jQuery user, so I haven't tried it, but it looks interesting.
Overall: what do you think of the javascript safari / iphone library that implements, say, 90% of the most used APIs in jQuery (or your other favorite library)?
