IRC Bot: Error - Registration Timeout

Question

I am doing a simple IRC Bot in C. And I finally got a bot that binds and receives information. My code should also be sent, but the server acts as if it is not sending anything. When the bot connects, I get the following:

Received :: roc.esper.net NOTICE TO AUTH: *** View your hostname ...

Received :: roc.esper.net NOTICE AUTH: *** Found your hostname

at this moment my code sends this message:

Sent: NICK Goo

Sent: USER Goo * *: Goo

I decided to use wirehark, which is the registration you should send after the initial connection. However, I'm not sure if the data is really being sent, or maybe this is incorrect? Because after about 30 seconds, I also get this:

Received: ERROR: Close link: c-68-33-143-182.hsd1.md.comcast.net (Registration timeout)

And then my program closes.

Does anyone else know anything about irc authorization / registration software processes? Or does anyone else have helpful ideas?
