How to make compilation of Quartus II faster?

I use Altera Quartus 2 to create a custom 8-bit processor, and it builds compilation on my laptop forever. I use only simulations and make my processor sketchy (flowchart) and VHDL. Now it only takes 10 minutes to compile, which is a pain, since I’m more at the stage of debugging the project, where I need to fix the internal time and make very few changes to see what happens.

I don’t find it on FPGA, so do I need the locksmith and assembler compilation phases?

Can I change the contents of a memory file to one lpm_ram_dq and test it in a simulation without recompiling?

In general, does anyone know how to compile it quickly?

In decreasing order of importance.

  • More memory. 4 GB for 32-bit OS. Some designs need more to require a 64-bit OS.
  • Do not overstrain the design.
  • Change the compilation options so as not to try. hard. This is under assignment> Settings> Filter Settings> Quick Setup (or Auto Fit)
  • 8.1 supports multiple cores.
  • Help with search queries, especially if you have multiple instances of the same block.

2 minutes are really short, I agree with the previous poster. One shutter will take a long time.
