How to get a temporary preview in P4Win?

In the past, on computers running Windows XP, I was able to install P4V (the stupid platform-independent visual client of Perforce, which Perforce is trying to put into your throat), and then install P4Win (the wonderful clean reliable mature visual client that Perforce is stupidly trying to blame).

If I made the settings in this order (and only in this order), I would get the option “view time” of the file when I right-click on it in the Perforce repository in P4Win. This would launch the time-viewing app that appeared with P4V, and everyone would be happy.

I just did these steps in Vista and ... without dice. I do not see the Time Lapse View option when I right-click on a file.

Does anyone know what elusive sequence of installation steps I need to do under Vista to get this option?

Ok, I did it myself. The following steps were: 1. Uninstall each Perforce product on my machine. 2. Reboot. 3. Install P4V. 4. Restart your computer. 5. Enter P4Win. 6. Reboot.

Then the “View by Time” window appears in P4Win (and the change schedule, another useful tool that you can only get from P4V tools). Hurrah!
