Crystal Reports 11: how do you debug a crystal report?

When I create a crystal report, and when I add fields and fields to the database, the report displays a completely empty report for the account that I create. How do you debug a crystal report?

Do you customize markers or flags for output? Is there somewhere an error log that describes in which field is the message with the problem?

Your empty “no records” report may be triggered by some unexpected “standard” links between tables that CR will add each time you change the list of tables and views needed for the report. There is a smart binding option that can even automatically create some recursive links. Be careful when looking at them on the relationship screen, as they may not be displayed “right away”. Another situation leading to “empty” reports is when the tables are connected to the inner join instead of the outer join or when the outer joins must switch between left and right.
