To clarify, I don't have any problem in terms of an application displaying text in non-Western languages for users. This is a resolved issue. There are many unicode fonts available and many ways to process text in glyphs and then on the display surface.
I foul in the opposite direction. Even if my program can safely process text data in any arbitrary encoding, there is no way that users can actually enter their name if it includes a character that requires more than one keystroke.
