Scheme Design Ideas

Question

I am interested in improving my functional programming skills, and I believe that the best way to do this is to work on a medium-sized project. I have worked with Scheme in the past and would like to continue to do so. Can anyone suggest some ideas for the Scheme project? (Note: I am well versed in C (ANSI C89 / ISO C90), so using the Scheme external function interface to (for example) interact with a library such as ncurses is not only possible, but also preferable.)
