Install standalone cygwin applications

I want to configure a minimal set of cygwin applications (ls, diff, path, find, grep) so that they run on the machine without a full cygwin installation.

I assume that all that is needed is * .exe and * .dll files. So far this is what I have. It still works, but I was wondering if there are any problems in the future that I might experience.

Not really, but you can look at UnxUtils , which has some advantages over cygwin for your application, re describing:

  • It does not depend on an external DLL.

  • msvcrt.dll, cygwin.dll, . /cygdrive , .

  • - (2) bat , .

UnxUtils , sed , sed.exe DLL . CMD.exe , , \r\n.
