Error 1053 when trying to restart / stop Tomcat 5.0.30 (installed as a Windows service)

Question

I have Tomcat 5.0.30 installed as a Windows service. This service starts perfectly. However, when I try to restart or stop the service from the Windows Services console, I get the following error:

Failed to stop the Tomcat service on the local computer. Error 1053: the service did not respond to a start or a control request in a timely fashion

I recently upgraded to Tomcat 5.0.30 from 5.0.28, and before that it worked just fine. Its latest version that causes this problem. Google did not help much.

Does anyone know why this is happening?
