Web Printing Solutions

I am creating a new web product. The problem is that many clients have certain printers for printing certain documents. Just think about reports, barcodes, invoices, etc. All on a special printer with suitable paper, etc.

Typically, when printing from the Internet, you cannot force the software to select a printer or change settings. However, this is just what I want to do.

I want to print without dialogue. And enter the printer settings + using my software

The only solution I know about right now is a commercial version of acrobat with javascript support.

Does anyone know of any other alternatives?

Thanks in advance!

  • small business
  • There is no heavy installation, but the usual things are fine that is. flash / silverlight / acrobat / anything is possible
  • I create what is needed for printing (PDF / Tiff, etc.)

Who are your customers - enterprises or SOHO? Do you create PDF files? Or raw tiffs? If you are creating PDF files, there is something called JDF where you can specify print options in your hearty content. The flip side of the device must be able to understand JDF. You can then attach the JDF to the PDF file as a mime package. If you generate tiffs, I think that there is no need for printer settings, except for the correct profile (s) of the device to be installed.

Due to security reasons, you cannot control this from the browser.
