Should I learn Openedge as a C # programmer

We have a Progress OpenEdge ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progress_4GL ) to create a team in the company I work for. I am the only C # developer and I really like it. So, now the manager asks me to study programming in OpenEdge. He doesn’t want me to become a good OpenEdge programmer, but he wants the team members to understand both worlds. He hopes the team will benefit from this. I do not want to learn, but I want to become a better developer, and there are so many other .Net that I like to open. So, is there a good point in Progress OpenEdge where I am making a profit, or should I avoid it.

  • OpenEdge is a powerful infrastructure for creating CRUD applications; but it’s a niche skill without an SAP-like premium for its ownership premium; on the contrary, it is difficult for worthy OpenEdge developers to master the standard swamp rates - it will not be known that the manager hired the OpenEdge developer as a backdoor.

  • The core of ABL (OpenEdge language) is quite different from the language from the main thread to be interesting for the curious programmer and for the arguments of your bosses, so that everyone can understand where the others come from in order to make sense.

So, considering these points:

It is worth exploring the basics to enrich your understanding of your core competencies in accordance with "What should they know from England, who knows only England?" You can also find the convenience of sharing data.
