MVC and Java versus stricter MVC languages

I was told that Java is not the best choice for MVC architecture. I believe that I have seen some Java solutions to simplify this road album. However, I am a little confused why this is so. More specifically, why the Java attempt in MVC is often ridiculed as a "mimetic" approach. I came from the background of ObjC (w / Cocoa, of course) and would like to hear from experienced programmers about why MVC with Java is said to be missing.

Appreciate it!
