I have a series of files named filename.part0.tar, filename.part1.tar, & hellip; filename.part8.tar.
I think tar can create multiple volumes during archiving, but I cannot find a way to unlock them on Windows. I tried to overclock them using 7zip (GUI and command line), WinRAR, tar114 (which does not start on 64-bit Windows), WinZip and ZenTar (a small utility that I found).
All programs run through the part0 file, extract 3 rar files, and then complete the error message. None of the other part files are recognized as .tar, .rar, .zip or .gz.
I tried to combine them using the DOS copy command, but this will not work, perhaps because part0 through part6 and part8 are each 100Mb and part7 through 53Mb, and therefore probably the last part. I tried several different logical orders for files in concatenation, but without joy.
Besides installing Linux, searching for a live distribution, or tracking the guy who left these files for me, how can I unlock these files?
