Best Client / Server UDP and TCP Debugging Tool?

I am trying to find a simple tool for debugging TCP / UDP. The tool should act as a client or server, display incoming messages, allow sending messages, etc. Ideally, the tool will have a graphical interface and be extremely easy to use.

In life, I can not find anything suitable. All the tools that I tried to either trim messages, insert dummy messages into the stream, etc. This is disappointing given how easy it is to implement this tool. I can’t believe that this wheel was not reinvented 100 times, but for 3 hours googling me nowhere ...

Any help appreciated. Thanks,

What platform are you using? In linux, the combination of netcatwith tcpdumpis a real Swiss army knife for network analysis. Both are free and are included as part of many Linux distributions.

On Windows (and also for Linux) you can try Wiresharkfor analysis.

Btw, netcat == nc on OSX and other BSDs.
