When is it wise to use WCF over webclient or httpwebrequest?

I want to understand when to use WCF services, and not just use webclient or httpwebrequest. I probably also want to understand the difference between design patterns that would be suitable for both.

Are you talking about when to create a WCF service yourself (through a web service) or when to use an existing web service using WCF instead of .NET 2.0 ASMX clients?
