How to use OpenID on my new ASP.NET website?

I have to be stupid, because all the articles that I saw in OpenID in ASP.NET just confused me in this matter. I am pretty sure that I understand the concepts that are involved here, I'm just a little vague how everything looks on the back of things.

So, a new user comes to my site and wants to create an account. This raises a stream of questions:

  • This is the first step here when he chooses which openID provider he will use to log in?
  • I suggest he enter a username on my system?
  • Do I need to bind it to one openID provider each time it returns, or can it choose a new provider each time?
  • What does the database look like here? Do I have his username in the table and is associated with the openID provider?
  • What if the user does not have an OpenID account? Should I allow him to create a traditional account at my end and then expose himself as an OpenID provider?

What am I missing here? I'm usually pretty bright, but this area looked like Superman kryptonite for my smart developers. Thanks in advance!
