Combining multiple columns in one table into one column in another table

I am looking to create a view that retrieves data from two tables, Schedule and Link.

The graph has 50 + columns (it is almost completely denormalized - not my design), most of which contain a value that can be connected to a column in the Reference table.

How to write an SQL statement to correctly merge each column in schedules into one column in a link?

I am trying to join each column of [TEXT1 _] / [TEXT2_] in the list in the [SCHAREACODE] column in the link. The entire look-up table contains a list of areas in which the employee could work.

Agree with TheSoftwareJedi, but can I just suggest using LEFT JOINs so that malfunctions do not cause the schedule line to disappear?

Of course, making 28 JOINs will be a little cumbersome, whatever the details.

I'm not sure I would call it "denormalized", more "de-normalized" ... :-)

Try the following query:

select s.*, r.schareacode from schedule s, 
where 
s.text1_1 = s.schareacode
or s.text2_1 = s.schareacode
or s.textx_x = s.schareacode
..

You should be able to get the same results with traditional associations, so I recommend that you also experiment with this.
