Why is TestComplete so slow?

We use TestComplete from AQTime to test the GUI on the client using our Client / Server application. It was compiled with Delphi 2007. The client source is about 1.4 million sourcelines. The hardware is Intel dualcore 2.13 Mhz, 2 GB of RAM using Windows XP Pro.

I am compiling an application with all debugging options, as well as a link in TCOpenApp, tcOpenAppClasses, tcPublicInfo, tcDUnitSupport, as described in the documentation to make this an Open Application. The result of the exe file is about 50 MB.

Now when you run testcript, it works, but it works very slowly. The processor runs at 100%, and this upsets the change in the test scenario a bit due to slowness. I turned off all desktop effects like rounded corners of a window. No desktop background.

Anyone else with the same experience or even a solution?

Your problem is probably that you are compiled with debugging information and use tcXXX units, resulting in a huge amount of objects being created.
