Implementation of ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) in a functional language

I hope the architecture question makes sense in Stackoverflow, so I ask about it here.

I’m trying to understand where a functional language will be useful outside of the problems associated with mathematics, and it became clear to me that the ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) is ideal for the FP language, since there is nothing in my experience since the original message arrives and is processed as it passing based on transformation rules.

Will there be any reason why this would be a bad idea?

Is this already done?

The scalability of something like Erlang can be very useful, I suppose.
