Using Ogg Vorbis in Flash / Flex Applications

I am looking to use ogg vorbis, instead of mp3s for streaming audio. The flash player does not seem to support OGG. Is there a codec mechanism that can be built into an application that can play .ogg instead of .mp3?

All in all, what would be a better format than mp3 for audio streaming, and is it supported by Flash?

One of the first demonstrations of Adobe Alchemy technology was the OggVorbis library for Flash. See this page for the source and the library itself.

At a recent Google IO conference, Google announced a new multimedia format in WebM format, which should be supported in Flash 10.1.x. I do not know if they reported exactly when. The reason I mention is because the format audio format is Vorbis. Not sure when your deadline is, but if he can wait, then it will sound like there will soon be outside support.
