I am doing an i18n conversion on the RoR website. I am using the Sven Fuchs textmate bundle along with the NewDesk translate plugin. I started with the yaml files provided by Sven Fuchs here ( http://github.com/svenfuchs/rails-i18n/tree/3e1994d137e1785689e39f6e957087d3baed0011/rails/locale )
I quickly see that the keys go out of sync between files, managing between development instances becomes painful, updating in prod using the task "FROM = en TO = ru rake translate: google" or "rake translate: merge_keys"
Have you considered creating files from a database? I am not sure of any other opinions on this matter, but I needed to provide an interface for a client project for editing internationalization information.
