How to create a mysql database mirror to switch targets in case of emergency?

I have about 400 GB of live mysql Databases on one server, and I like to create a mirror for this database. On the server, I have a database from 1 GB to 100 GB. What are the best practices that I can use? My goal is so that I can switch in case of emergency. It must have all the live data.

Thanks.

It depends on the emergency ...

For live data, replication is the way to go, but random DROPwill be replicated right through ...
