Report decent print online

As a web systems programmer, I would like to generate some reports and be able to send them to the printer directly from my client browser, which is on the client side, I do not need to create PDF files or something like that.

I would like to be able to:

  • Print friendly paging, something like "Page 1 of 3"
  • Print some things at the bottom of each page, for example, "Generated on 2009-02-20"
  • do not print url

Is it possible? Javascript CSS? What are the best practices here?
