Sql group rows with the same value and put that value in the header?

I want to group rows with SQL, my result set is as follows

name size date
data1 123 12/03/2009
data1 124 09/15/2009
data2 333
09/02/2010 data2 323 02/11/2010
data2 673 02/09/2014
data2 444 05/05/2010

I want to group the result set as follows:

data1
  123 12/03/2009
  124 09/15/2009
data2
  333
  09/02/2010 323 02/11/2010
  673 09/02/2014
  444 05/01/2010

can this be done using pure SQL?
