After moving from MB to the new MBP, Apple Migration Assistant did not move my gems.
This time I install rubygems through macports, hoping to avoid this with the next update.
Are there any pitfalls I should know about?
If you want your gems to be installed in your home directory (which should be copied during the transfer and, as a side effect, will allow you to run gem installas yourself, not root), set gemhome:the path key in your home directory to ~/.gemrc.
gem install
gemhome:
~/.gemrc
